Bison Sweep 2nd Place in Vail

Velogo_medium_small

BHC went to the Vail Sportsmanship Tournament with three teams and came back with three trophies. The Squirt C White, Squirt A, and Peewee A teams all played great hockey to make the finals, but each lost a hard fought championship game.

Boulder started their championship quest on Sunday with the Peewee As going toe-to-toe with Littleton Red in a defensive showdown. The Hawks broke through a 0-0 standoff with a power play goal late in the third and added an empty netter to down the Bison 2-0. Boulder’s success was driven by only three goals allowed in five games by goalies Cody Christofferson and Bailey Aust.

The Squirt C White team played next, facing a Squirt B team from Denver Country Club. DCC handed Boulder a 6-0 drubbing early Sunday morning. The Bison rebounded well in the finals, sparked by Grace Lee’s first period goal. Boulder played great team hockey all weekend but ultimately lost in the finals 3-1.

The last hopes for a Bison championship rested on the Squirt As. Their game was a rematch of a 2-2 tie with Front Range on Saturday. Down 2-0 in the third period Boulder got on the board with a goal from Stefan Handlos-Fruhwirth. The fast skating Bison couldn’t build on their momentum and went down with a 4-1 final score.

At the end of the day the BHC faithful were proud of their teams bringing home the hardware. Congratulations to the kids for a great weekend of hockey!

ProSkate Now Under New Ownership !

After 12 years of running ProSkate, Scott and Annick Neitenbach have sold the store to focus solely on their team sales business, 287 Apparel. ProSkate has been purchased by Tony Zurn and Fred Linder; both with deep roots in the local community and within the hockey community.
ProSkate will continue to offer its world class skate fitting and service and has already dramatically increased the hockey equipment including new merchandise from Easton, Graf, Warrior, CCM and many others.
“We are glad to get ProSkate back to its full potential,” said new owner Tony Zurn. “We are also pleased that we will also work in direct association with 287 Apparel so that all apparel, including jerseys and all team sales will be a seamless process for the consumer.”
“While we exit the hockey business with mixed emotion we are very excited to be able to have singular focus on the team sales business and are also happy to have Tony and Fred continue the great tradition of quality service and skate fitting that ProSkate has been built on,” said Scott Neitenbach.
ProSkate now has already received new 2010 merchandise plus new BHC logo apparel and more is arriving daily.

Bison Hand El Paso First Ever Series Loss at Home
After sweeping the Tulsa Rampage last weekend in Boulder to advance to the Western States Hockey League (WSHL) Division Championship series, the Bison traveled to El Paso, Texas to take on the perennial league powerhouse El Paso Rhinos.

Going into the three game series on Friday night in El Paso, the Bison knew they had a tough task in front of them.  During the regular season, the Bison were able to beat the Rhinos just three times out of twelve total games – once in El Paso and twice in Boulder.  But the Bison were peaking at the right time, taking a ten game winning streak into Friday night’s match-up.  Read entire article -
