Tier II/AA Team Structure
All listed teams will play in the Rocky Mountain Regional Silver Stick tournament, cost is not included in the projected team figure. If one of the teams wins Silver Stick they will attend the International Tournament. This is the only way a Bison team will participate in a 3rd out of state tournament.
All AA teams will travel to out of state tournaments as a "team". Two coaches, 1 team manager, 4-5 parent chaperons, 3 vans, 2 players to a room (U-12/Peewee teams will have a chaperon in their room). The team will pay for the two coaches travel, lodging and food. Parents are more than welcome to attend but they will travel on their own. Costs are projected and coaches may add or subtract to the projected team figure. The team budget will be approved by the Hockey Director prior to team fee collections.

BHC B.E.S.T. Training Program
BHC will continue the Boulder Elite Skills Training (B.E.S.T.) program for the 2011-2012 season. YThe Directors will add a Team Tactics session once a month this year. The B.E.S.T. Program was designed by the BHC Hockey Directors and Coaching Committee to insure all BHC players from Mites to Bantams, from Tier II to Rec. level players, receive the ice time and coaching they need to move to the next level. The B.E.S.T. Program adds one “touch” a week for each player on average and allows Matt Huckins, Jimmy Dexter and Brent Cullaton to bring their knowledge and training to each player in the association. 8 & Under Program (Mites) USA Hockey ADM Model: CCYHL 8 & Under Rules – 2011/2012
The schedule and training program is described in much greater detail below under each of the division sections.
The CCYHL voted to adopt a new training model for the 8 & Under program in Colorado. All CCYHL associations will follow this new model instituted by USA Hockey and the CCYHL. Mites will have their skill sessions on Wednesday nights along with two touches on the weekends.
Game Procedures
Squirt Program
All BHC Squirts will take part in a “Skills and Small Games Training Program” . This will allow players to play multiple sports in the fall. This will also eliminate the stress on the early season tryout and the "push" to get ready for games shortly thereafter. After a month of practices to hone their skills and get in shape, the BHC Coaching Committee will assist the Head Coaches with team selections.
Game Procedures
1. Game lengths should be 60 minutes with 3 - 12 minute stop periods.
Player Selection
1. Teams will be divided into A, B & C divisions as always.

Thursday Team Practice
On Thursdays all Squirt teams will have a 30/30 practice session where they will work on team tactics and strategies needed for the coming weekend games. At these sessions the coaches will have the opportunity to put the players through some full ice drills and systems work of their choice.

BHC Peewee and Bantam Division Tryouts
Although Tier II tryouts will have been completed, coaches may decide to carry 3-4 extra players for up to 30 days for further evaluation. In the past BHC has selected its teams and solidified the rosters at the end of tryouts. We want to learn from our mistakes and make sure we have the "right players" on all teams. Sometimes players come in "rusty" and don’t show their true potential until a month into the season. Any player that is skating with the AA team after tryouts and is released from the team will have a roster spot on the next highest team. This situation will be communicated to the coaches, BHC Coaching Committee and the parents of any player affected.

The Peewee & Bantam B.E.S.T Ice Model
Mondays- Individual Skill Night
Tuesday thru Friday
All teams will have two "team" weekday touches along with the Monday Skills Night, a 1/2 ice and a 30/30 practice. The 1/2 ice practice will be based on teaching through Small Area Games. The 30/30 touch day is to focus on Team Tactics and Strategies.
Midget Program
The 2011-2012 CCYHL Season comes with many changes including a major change at the Midget Tier II level. Minor AA and Major AA teams at ALL CCYHL associations will play a split season to accommodate the growth of CHSAA hockey throughout the state.
What will this entail and how will it affect BHC?
